What is a short haul move? This is a move that is less than 450 miles. Make sure to inquire with your moving company as you may have to pay long distance charges even for short haul moves.
What is a local move? This usually refers to moves that are less than 100 miles and within the same state.
What is an intrastate move? This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.
What are bulky articles? These refer to heavy items such as cars, snowmobiles, trailers or cars. Extra charges are usually applied because these items take up more space in the moving trucks/vans and require additional labour to load and unload.
Can I ask my movers to place the furniture where I want in my home? Most movers will place the furniture where you would like. However, you need to remember that you are being charged per hour so decide where you would like the furniture to go beforehand.
What is third party service? This is a service contracted out to people other than the movers. It may include waterbed service, household cleaning or appliance servicing.
What is expedited service? You pay a higher rate so your movers can transfer your household or business goods on a specified date.
What is a transportation surcharge? This is an extra fee charged when the pickup or destination locations are very remote which results in less return weight for the moving company.
What should I do to prepare my appliances before my move? Make sure that appliances such as your microwave, dishwasher and washing machine are completely empty before the move. You may also need to hire professionals to disconnect any electric and water connections.
What are wardrobes? These are special boxes that are designed to hold your clothes. Some come equipped with a hanging rod and can fit clothing from up to 3 linear feet of closet space.

Should my movers pack my breakables? We recommend letting professional movers pack breakable items because most insurance providers will only cover the cost of damage done to breakable items that have been packed by a professional moving company.
